Queen’s Gambit. 👑

I received a call not to long ago about an invitation to the 20th Year Anniversary of Detroit City Chess Club. This is an amazing feat for our city and children of our past, present day and future.

We have many Detroit Chess clubs that could benefit from any type of donations. Chess books, chess boards, clocks and so much more. When you consider to make donations this year, please keep these children in mind.

With all that said, I am honored to be have been chosen as an honoree as one of the best female chess player in the last 20 years.

One of my most exciting and memorable moments is when GM M. Ashley visited Cass Tech my junior year, 2010. I believe he was invited by Mr. Campbell. As Mr. Campbell and my teammates watch, in engaged in a trash talked filled, speed chess match, where I successfully checkmated the GM! We all were shocked. Here I was, a inner city Detroit girl, trained by my peers and the best chess coaches Detroit had to offer, beating not just any Grand Master but Maurice Ashley! I wanted to walk away with that win and that’s what I did, Lol. But I didn’t walk away with a big head, I walked away trying to find avenues of making moments like that happen again.

Join us as we celebrate Detroit City Chess Club!
